McKenzie County is the largest County in North Dakota covering 1,754,892.8 acres with 90 townships and ranges spread within the beautiful badlands. McKenzie County is also the heart of the Bakken oil and gas region at the western edge of the state.

The county Recorder's office formally organized by the Constitutional Convention of 1889.

Duties |

Keep a record of each patent, deed, mortgage, bill of sale, security agreement, judgement, decree, lien, certificate of sale and other instrument required to be filled or recorded per NDCC 11-18.

Record military discharge as requested per NDCC 37-01-34

Deposit will for safe keeping per NDCC 30.1-11.01

Issue Marriage License per NDCC 14-03
